Summary
Darcy works from home, photographic mugs for an online marketplace, thinking about how she won the Rosburg Portrait Prize when she was 20. She reminds herself that she can’t think about that and she wishes that Tom hadn’t brought it up. She also thinks about how badly she wishes she had her grandmother Loretta’s black sapphire ring if she were ever to get married. However, Loretta left the ring to Tom, and he refused to sell it to Darcy.
Darcy continues working until she decides she “should grow up and get things back to normal” (107). She goes out onto the back porch to find Tom taking photos of the rustic back stairs.
