Summary

The fifth story in this book is titled “My Eighth-Grade Physics Actually Comes in Handy” (67), and it is written by Samirah al-Abbas, Amir’s fiancée and one of Odin’s Valkyries. The story is set in Jotunheim, the home of the giants. The story begins with Odin talking to Samirah. Odin reminded Samirah about signs that heralded the beginning of Ragnarok. One such sign was the hatching of an egg belonging to a rooster named “Fialar” (69). Odin feared that the egg was about to hatch, so he tasked Samirah with going to Jotunheim and ensuring its stability. Samirah was disappointed because she had hoped Odin would ask her to fight the giants in Jotunheim.

When she arrived in Jotunheim, Samirah found the tree in which the egg was nestled. However, she then noticed a giant with a magical harp protecting...
