Summary
Scene 3 opens with Leo lying on the couch of his grandmother’s apartment. He reads a book as Vera struggles to open the door. She accuses Leo of locking the deadbolt. He reassures her that he did not touch the lock. They bicker for a while over household issues, and then Vera tells Leo that she just came from a funeral. She was in a group of octogenarians and the last living member (other than herself) had just passed away. Vera then segues into telling Leo that she recently spoke with his mother. While she did not say anything about Leo’s stay, Vera felt incredibly uncomfortable. Leo’s mother is distraught over her son and Vera is unable to console her.
