Acting-Captain Lee orders the flooded tanks of Galaxy to be emptied to reduce ballast. The ship rises out of the water and flops onto its long side. The maneuver allows the ship to drift onto dry land.
Chapter 36, The Alien Shore Analysis
The crew and passengers are finally out of the Europan ocean. They escape the dangers of the water, but now must deal with the dangers of land. Europa is a dangerous place no matter what. If rescue does not come soon, Europa might also become the last resting place for crew and passengers. At least they know that Universe is on its way.
