Part 6, Chapters 46-49 Summary
In chapter forty-six, Max circles the two ships during their docking procedure. The two ships are joined with extremely powerful tape. Mission Control asks them to take some pictures of a strange spot that has developed on Jupiter's surface. They reach ignition and begin acceleration toward Jupiter. The maneuver goes well, and the captain orders everyone to rest. In his chamber, Floyd attempts to locate the spot Mission Control told him about. It does in fact look very strange, and Floyd begins to think it is growing, and that it isn't a natural phenomenon at all.
In chapter forty-seven, the two ships continue their journey, and Floyd grows more concerned about Hal's reaction to being left behind. The black spot on Jupiter is, in fact, growing rapidly. They've determined it is made from countless smaller dots. Curnow has Hal's...
