Part 4, Chapters 26-29 Summary
In chapter twenty-six, Heywood sends a secret message back to a Victor Millson, the Chairman of the National Council on Astronautics, explaining that Chandra has determined the nature and reason for Hal's malfunction was that he was given information and ordered to conceal it, which went against his basic programming. This essentially drove the computer insane and caused a direct confrontation with Discovery's crew, after Hal determined the only way he could successfully complete his mission was by eliminating the humans onboard. He also informs Millson that Chandra is not entirely cooperative with the rest of the crew.
In chapter twenty-seven, Curnow expresses his dislike of the ship's plumbing, and wishes he could take a warm bath. Rudenko wishes to go horseback riding again. Brailovsky admits that he would go diving if he were off of the ship. Captain...
