Prologue, Inspector Lindsay Boxer, and Book 1, David and Melanie Brandt: Chapters 1-5 Summary

Lindsay Boxer is a female homicide inspector who has ambitions to rise high in the police department despite the male-oriented atmosphere. Lindsay was once married but no longer is involved in a serious relationship. Lindsay has no family except a sister to whom she is not close. The most important person in Lindsay's life is her friend, Claire.
