Prologue, Inspector Lindsay Boxer, and Book 1, David and Melanie Brandt: Chapters 1-5 Summary

Lindsay Boxer is a female homicide inspector who has ambitions to rise high in the police department despite the male-oriented atmosphere. Lindsay was once married but no longer is involved in a serious relationship. Lindsay has no family except a sister to whom she is not close. The most important person in Lindsay's life is her friend, Claire.

In the prologue, Inspector Lindsay Boxer is considering suicide. Lindsay claims her depression began with the bride and groom murder case.
