Summary
Lundh was among the 600 Taliban headed for Mazar. He was so tired at this point that he could barely speak.
The soldiers posted at the Turkish Schoolhouse soon learned there were 600 Taliban who claimed they wanted to surrender. Atta sent an envoy to talk to the men where they were waiting at the airport. Dean was concerned because it appeared no one was in charge of the surrender. When Dostum arrived, he brought with him a horde of reporters. Together, Atta and Dostum argued about who was in charge of the surrender. Dean realized anyone wanting to would have the perfect opportunity to kill both warlords.
