Summary

In Chapter 23, Jake included the newspaper article describing the attempted shooting of Walker as well as the one describing Sadie’s injury in his manuscript. Sadie had been sent to Parkland Memorial Hospital. When Jake was finally able to see Sadie, she asked that he not look at her. Once he had convinced himself that he loved her regardless of how she looked, she asked if he had missed what he needed to see on Wednesday night and if he would get a second chance to find out what he needed to know. He answered honestly that he did not know.
