The section dealing with Young Fu of the Upper Yangtze contains brief commentary on the novel, a useful biographical sketch, and the full text of Lewis's "Acceptance Paper" for the Newbery Medal. Lewis's comments here are especially helpful for an understanding of her love and knowledge of China.
