Rewind is a sentimental tale about a young man learning to behave like a responsible person, rather than remaining always focused on himself and his wants. The glowing light and the disembodied voice are primarily window-dressing; some might object to Peter preferring to be dead rather than to be in the light of the afterlife, but this seems unlikely. Of greater interest are the ways Peter tries to fix his life, progressing from the merely physical (sugar in the gas tank), to avoiding the problems that contributed to his death (making a flip book rather than puppets), to learning how to actually care about other people's needs and desires.
