Two Audiobooks of The Regulators have been published. The abridged version, read by the actress Kate Nelligan (New York: Penguin Audiobooks, 1996), comprises six cassettes and runs nine hours. It omits the passages from Audrey's journal, the screenplays of the Regulators film and MotoKops episode, letters, and other interpolations. Although transitions are occasionally abrupt, Nelligan's reading is adequate, though uninspired.

The unabridged version is read by Frank Muller (Prince Frederick, MD: Recorded Books, 1997). It comprises nine cassettes and runs 12 hours 25 minutes. Muller, who has also recorded The Green Mile, Skeleton Crew, Different Seasons, and other Stephen King works, is the premier King reader! Muller gives unique identities to a large cast of characters.

Especially delightful are the voices of the cartoons.
