A project for a movie based on Blood and Chocolate was announced in 1997, and was rumored to star Jennifer Love Hewitt. However, production has been delayed by the death of the original director, Leslie Libman.

Po-Chih Leong (director of The Wisdom of Crocodiles) has now taken over the project.

Interestingly, the screenwriter who is adapting Blood and Chocolate for movie format is Christopher Landon, the son of "Little House on the Prairie"'s Michael Landon who starred in the movie I Was a Teenage Werewolf. The movie's tentative release date is sometime in 2001.
