Andi's War begins with a foreword that helps the reader understand the historical setting and plot. Although the information now appears dated, it is necessary because of the complexity of events described in the book. Billi Rosen also creates a sense of foreboding within her foreword when she concludes by saying: "Me, I look at the hills and keep my fingers crossed." Does this mean that this could happen again?
