After retiring from the priesthood, Montague Summers spent many years as an independent scholar and author during the early twentieth century. He is primarily known for his vast research and writings on the occult, in which he explored the history of the reasons behind human belief in the supernatural, including witches, demons, vampires, and werewolves.
