Montague Summers was an ordained deacon who wrote prolifically on topics related to the occult, witchcraft, and supernatural phenomena. In his book The Vampire in Europe, from which the following article is excerpted, Summers presents an exhaustive amount of research into the eyewitness accounts of vampires, from early history through the late 1920s, when his book was first published.
