Joseph Collison argues in the following viewpoint that explicit sex education programs have led to a breakdown in sexual morality. The abortion and pregnancy rates of American teenagers had been declining steadily until the introduction of sex education in the schools caused them to increase sharply, he contends. Furthermore, Collison maintains, sex education supporters knew that teen abortions and teen promiscuity would increase when teens were taught sex education. Teaching sex education is a part of their plan to legitimize the sexual revolution, legalize abortion, support women’s liberation, and promote the normalcy of homosexuality and other deviant sexual practices, he asserts. Collison is the director of the office of Pro-Life Activities for the diocese of Norwich, Connecticut, and chairman of the board of Caring Families Pregnancy Services.
