Gail B. Stewart received her undergraduate degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. She did her graduate work in English, linguistics, and curriculum study at the College of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota. She taught English and reading for more than ten years. She has written over ninety books for young people, including a series for Lucent Books called The Other America. She has written many books on historical topics such as World War I and the Warsaw Ghetto.
Stewart and her husband live in Minneapolis with their three sons, Ted, Elliot, and Flynn, two dogs, and a cat. When she is not writing she enjoys reading, walking, and watching her sons play socccer.
