The AAUW seeks to promote education and equal opportunities for women and girls. As a part of this mission, the AAUW includes an Educational Foundation that funds research on girls and education, community action projects, and fellowships and grants for women in the United States and abroad. The AAUW also includes a Legal Advocacy Fund that offers funds and support for women seeking legal action for sex discrimination in higher education. In 1993, the AAUW Educational Foundation conducted an extensive survey of sexual harassment in the nation's secondary schools. The results of this survey are available in the AAUW publication Hostile Hallways.
