NOAA is responsible for overseeing fish and other aquatic wildlife as well as the quality of U.S. waters. Consequently, much that happens during an oil spill is within its jurisdiction. NOAA publishes many fact sheets and provides detailed information on many subjects. It has many divisions and offices around the country and is best reached through its website.
