Yucca Mountain provides the best solution of any yet proposed on how to deal with the storage of radioactive nuclear wastes. Unfortunately, the issue of nuclear waste storage has become mired in petty politics and the overzealous machinations of various environmental and advocacy groups. By creating a safe, sound national nuclear waste repository, the United States would encourage the rest of the world to follow its example, providing further insurance against environmental contamination and weapons proliferation.
