In the following viewpoint, Larry M. Wortzel argues that the United States should not go out of its way to negotiate a peace treaty with North Korea. Such an agreement would give a diplomatic victory to the North Korean regime that it does not deserve, and would slight the contributions made by other nations that participated in the Korean War. He contends that the Korean War was a prime example of United Nations military intervention and that the only proper way to formally end the Korean War would be a negotiated treaty between North Korea and the United Nations.
