Perhaps the most common belief in life after death is the Christian belief that when a person dies they pass on to either heaven or hell. According to the Bible, there is an afterlife. If people are saved, they go to heaven; if they are not, they go to hell. Daniel 12:2 states, "Many . . . shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt."
