Zainab Salbioff, recently back from a trip to Iraq in May [2003], was interviewed June 13 [2003] by off our backs intern Maryam Moody and collective member Karla Mantilla. Salbi is the founder and President of Women for Women International, a foundation that provides assistance to women in Bosnia, Afghanistan, Rwanda, Kosovo, Pakistan, Colombia, Nigeria and Iraq. Salbi, a native of Baghdad, grew up during the Iran-Iraq War and came to the United States to complete her education.
