Part I: Patrick Buchanan; Part II: Don Feder

In the following two-part viewpoint, syndicated columnists Patrick Buchanan and Don Feder contend that America is endangered by a growing population of nonwhite immigrants. In part I, Buchanan maintains that America will cease to be a cohesive nation if it continues to promote ethnic diversity and lenient immigration policies. A democracy cannot be sustained when its citizens have no common bonds, he asserts. In part II, Feder argues that the customs of many nonwhite immigrants are a threat to America’s European-derived standards of liberty, justice, and responsibility.
