In the following viewpoint, Muqtedar Khan argues that the United States shares some of the responsibility for India’s dangerous provocations against Pakistan that might cause a nuclear war. America’s rhetorical and military war on terror following the September 11, 2001, attacks against New York and Washington have encouraged India to consider a similar military response against terrorists and fighters in the disputed territory of Kashmir. He argues that the United States has the responsibility to actively intervene between India and Pakistan and convince both sides to resolve their differences at the negotiating table.
