Robert P. Lanza, Betsy L. Dresser, and Philip Damiani claim in the following viewpoint that cloning provides a new way to preserve endangered species. According to the authors, cloning could even in some cases resurrect recently extinct species. Although preserving endangered species’ habitat is important, some countries are too poor or unstable to do so; thus storing the genetic stock of threatened animals from these countries may be the only way to preserve at-risk species, the authors argue.
