1. Louis Finkelstein gives a list of basic beliefs held by Jews. Corliss Lamont (at the end of the chapter) gives a list of basic beliefs held by humanists. Discuss those points where the two authors agree and disagree. Issues to consider are: the supernatural, democracy, social justice and equal opportunity, and respect for others.
