Because scientists think that finding a cure for cerebral palsy will take many decades and, even when a cure is found, may be expensive and hard to administer, cerebral palsy research focuses on overcoming the disorder through prevention. Therefore, a number of studies are investigating ways to stop cerebral palsy from occurring. At the same time, in order to help people who have cerebral palsy now, scientists are developing new assistive devices to make living with the disorder easier.
