Magick gives witches the ability to control events. However, the witch's strength of character and mental ability have much to do with how well magick works. Four basic principles form the cornerstone of effective magick: knowledge, will or desire, courage, and silence. In order to bring about change, the magickal process depends on the witch's creative visualization of the change, belief that he or she possesses the power to make the change, and the desire to make the change.
