Television shows and movies are increasingly marketing the occult to youth. In addition, teens are able to easily buy books that explain how they can become witches. These books include popular spells that appeal to teens. As a result, witchcraft is on the rise among teens. Christian parents should be concerned about the increasing popularity of Wicca among teens. Jason Barker worked with the Watchman Fellowship, a Protestant countercult ministry, for many years before establishing the Southwest Institute of Orthodox Studies in Arlington, Texas.The occult is becoming an increasingly common component of television programs oriented towards youth. The increased exposure of witchcraft and other occultic practices is increasing the acceptance of these practices by youth as exciting, exotic alternatives to mainstream religion (particularly Christianity).
