Sometimes abductees claim they have physical evidence that proves they were abducted by aliens: "scoop marks" or other injuries or scars on their bodies; strange objects inserted under their skin for tracking them; burn marks or other signs from the spaceship at the site of the abduction; or photographs of the craft. These claims of physical evidence must be studied by investigators who are trained in collecting and analyzing such evidence and determining whether such evidence is real or faked. When discussing physical evidence in their articles, authors should explain the process through which the evidence was determined to be real, a hoax, or inconclusive.
