Eyewitness testimony is a personal account of what someone saw. If there were no other witnesses, the testimony may not be able to be independently verified. Eyewitness testimony is the most common form of evidence used in research about alien abductions simply because there is little or no physical evidence available. Chalker uses his entire article to tell what Kary Mullis, his daughter, and a friend saw; therefore, it is an excellent example of eyewitness testimony. Chalker offers a lot of information about what Mullis saw and experienced, but readers must always keep in mind that eyewitnesses are notoriously unreliable in reporting what actually happened. If five people witness an event, such as an abduction, there are likely to be five different interpretations of what happened, what the aliens looked like, how long the event lasted, and so forth.
