1943-
American obstetrician and gynecologist who pioneered the treatment of fetal diseases and malformations. Born in Newport Township, Pennsylvania, he received his medical degree from Stanford School of Medicine in 1970 and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology there in 1974. Majoring in fetal medicine, he went to the University of Colorado where he pioneered the treatment of fetal hydrocephalus. In 1987 Clewell joined Phoenix Perinatal Associates, serving also as clinical professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and Chief of Service at Good Samaritan Hospital.
