British physician and lecturer in natural philosophy who rose to national prominence when he was called upon to treat the Prince of Wales for typhus. Before becoming the Physician-in-Ordinary to Queen Victoria in 1872, Gull served as a the Fullerian Professor of Physiology at Guy's Hospital in London.
