One of the greatest singing brother duos of all time, the Everly Brothers' close harmonies became one of the most identifiable sounds of the early rock 'n' roll era of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Hits such as "Bye Bye Love," "Wake Up Little Susie," and "Love Hurts" are long ingrained in the memories of Americans who grew up listening to the Everly Brothers. While they were heavily influenced by other singing brother duos like the Delmore Brothers and the Louvin Brothers, the Everly Brothers went on to influence such groups as the Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel (who covered "Wake Up Little Susie" on their Bridge Over Troubled Water album). After their pop stardom declined, they followed the same path as Jerry Lee Lewis and other early rock 'n' rollers, becoming country music artists.
