d. c. 850
An Indian mathematician who wrote at least three mathematical works. Only two of these survive, the Patiganita and the Patiganitasara (or Trisatika). The Patiganita covers the mathematical operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, finding squares, cubes and their roots, fractions, proportions, and some geometrical principles, but the last section is lost. The Trisatika is a brief summary of the Patiganita. His lost work was on algebra.
