Italian physician and medical writer who compiled the manuscript that later became the first printed medical dictionary. His work on materia medica was highly respected and influential. Simon served as physician to Pope Nicholas IV. His Synonyma medicinae, seu clavis sanationis was published in 1471, but no complete copy of this work has survived. Simon of Genoa was also known as Simon Januensis or Genuensis.
