Greek mathematician known both for his work in geometry, and for his commentaries on the texts of others. Of the former, both On the Section of a Cylinder and On the Section of a Cone survive. Most notable among his commentaries was one on the Conics of Apollonius (c. 262-c. 190 B.C.), which unfortunately has been lost.
