French mathematician who made contributions to probability, partial differential equations, and functional analysis. Lévy's work in geometry extended Laplace transforms to broader function classes. He published several books, notably Leçons d'analyse fonctionelle (1922), Calcul des probabilitiés (1925), and Processus stochastiques et mouvement brownien (1948), and taught at the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris from 1913 to 1959.
