German chemist whose most important contribution was the clarification of Georg Ernst Stahl's researches and theories. Juncker's systematic and coherent treatment of his teacher's work gave Stahlian ideas a wider audience, thus greatly increasing their influence on eighteenth-century chemistry and medical thought. Juncker adhered to Stahl's counsel that chemical and medical theories remain separate as the former had little to offer the latter. He also emphasized the importance of basing chemical theory on extensive experimental work.
