Chinese mathematician sometimes credited with the development of what came to be known as the Pascal triangle. This triangular configuration of binomial equations was named after Blaise Pascal (1623-1662), who actually developed it centuries after his Chinese counterparts. Though Jia Xien, among others, is credited with discovering the idea, it is likely that it was already known in his time.
