Those who were around when word processing software was in its infancy remember how they marveled when WordStar hit the market. Introduced in 1979, the program allowed the user to generate and manipulate text, store the data for later retrieval and revision, and print out the document. Sound like today's word processing software? It does, but WordStar was the first such program to be a commercial success.
