The following selection of terms and definitions is based on one originally authored by Caroline Whitbeck at the Online Ethics Center for Engineering and Science (OECES) at Case Western Reserve University (onlineethics.org) with the help of advisors to the OECES and discussed at greater length in her book, Ethics in Engineering Practice. Its aim is to introduce a number of concepts and terms that figure prominently in many discussions of science, technology, and ethics.
