Soviet cosmonaut who was the first human to spend an entire day in orbit. Titov's flight, originally scheduled for three orbits, was extended to seventeen in order to break the 24-hour mark. Titov made the first television broadcasts from space, giving a "tour" of the cabin and commenting on the sights below. Severely affected by space sickness, Titov never made another flight but remained active as a spokesman and administrator in the Soviet space program.
