The Conflict

In the 1990s there were reports of increases in violent attacks against foreigners in Germany. In addition, there were several high-level scandals involving neo-Nazi or right-wing supporters. With the reunification of the two Germanys (East and West), some people feared the re-emergence of the old militaristic, Nazi Germany that resulted in the Holocaust.
