March 15, 2000: The largest GBL distribution arrest in the United States to date was made when Michael Brian Hall, a former Honeywell computer engineer and Mensa member, was arrested on charges he sold GBL through his Inova Products website. Cash-only bail was set at $5 million. The Phoenix Division of the DEA, the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office claimed that Hall purchased GBL in 55-gallon drums from a distributor, and then resold it to hundreds of dealers nationwide. His illegal income of about $25,000 per week came from selling the contents of each drum, or about 180,000 doses of GBL, for $3,200, about three times the original price.
