Austrian physician and author who emigrated to the United States in 1848, after his involvement in an insurrection in Padua, Italy. He practiced medicine in Brooklyn until retiring in New York. He was involved in restructuring Bellevue Medical College in 1874, and in creating the German dispensary. He practiced medicine at Mount Sinai and other hospitals, and published articles in several medical periodicals.
