The Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC) was developed by J. Presper Eckert Jr. and John Mauchly. It was first used in ballistics testing for the military following World War II. The huge ENIAC was nothing like a personal computer as it weighed about thirty tons and contained about 18,000 vacuum tubes.
