Some researchers at the University of Bielefeld (Germany) have produced a computer-based system called NESSY, which demonstrates object recognition at the Heinz Nixdorf Museums Forum. Assisted by neural networks, NESSY learns about the shape and form of various objects and then recognizes them automatically. Visitors to the demonstration are invited to move the objects about in a small enclosure so that NESSY can be seen to observe and recognize them.
